Can my timing chain be bad if my 2009 dodge ram sometimes pings or sounds like my motor has a rattle in it when I take off. Smoke comes out of tail pe when it does this. Doesn't do it all the time. 7 Answers

If it is timing chain wouldn't it do this every time I take off

Trying to determine if my 2004 Ram 1500 Qd cab 4wd 4.7 Liter automatic transmission is 46RE, 47RE, or 48RE so I can determine the band adjustment?
