On a trip my car just died on the hwy. When I took it to a mechanic he said I had ran out of oil and the automatic shut down switch had been activated. Oil has been filled up, battery restarted.

Does it turn over but not start or not turn over at all? I would disconnect the battery for atleast ten minutes. If the latter I would also check battery voltage. It should be greater than 12 volts. Then tighten and clean all battery connections. Also tighten and clean the negative battery connections on the frame and motor also.

Need more info. Could be Plugs and wires. If it is old enough.

Check the connection to the battery. Had a similar situation where the bolt connecting the wires to the battery was too short, and the car would just randomly not start. (or the connection may just have become loose.)

If you have the system i have, there a reset button to the left of the steering wheel where you reset the, mph, gas used, average speed, miles left on fuel, and an OIL PERCENT USAGE LEFT, here you can reset the oil change to new. It resets the automatic oil change indicator. This is factory set for every 3000 miles. It doesn't know theres new oil and will continue to light until yhis is reset to 0%. Hope this works for you, It did for me.

Have a question and I know this is an older post and it might not be answered or even seen but yesterday we were coming back home from a trip and all of a sudden my engine just stopped.. luckily I was passing an exit when it did.. I turned down the exit and stopped lost all power but still had all my electronics.. I have a 2006 Buick Rendezvous 3.5 liter.. we were stuck at the bottom of the exit until someone came and helped my husband push thr vehicle off the road. We tried to start the engine but I was getting no Rpms at all.. then we would just turn the ignition to the 1st click then back off and it started once I tried to leave it stopped again. My husband thinks that it's not getting enough gas to the engine.. after sitting for 4 hours on the side of the road I was able to get us a ride home but my vehicle is still sitting there.. there was no indication of anything wrong it just died out of nowhere. I did have the gas cap light come on and couldn't get it to turn off but I've been dealing with that since I got the vehicle.. and usually it would just go off on it's own but it didnt do that yesterday. It stayed on but it's never done this before. I wasn't overheated and I had plenty of gas.. was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what you might think it could be. I love my Rendezvous but I have been putting a lot of money into it which is expected since it's an older vehicle but just hope this isnt something super expensive. And now I'm trying to figure out how to get it home.. I hate not having a vehicle! Any advice is greatly appreciated

I'm having the same problem with my 06 rendezvous it will drive for an hour if not less and it will either die once I slow down to a stop or it will not start once I kill the engine people telling me what it was the crankshaft sensor I replaced the crankshaft sensor it was in between the oil pan and the transmission pan underneath then started up I drove around and came back home and then I killed it and it would not start again doing the same thing once again and I'm thinking it was the camshaft sensor maybe I misheard or understood then from the beginning I've noticed that there's a wire that goes from my right front right wheel underneath my pulley where my camshaft is trying to locate the camshaft sensor I never did but I seen that this wire was still part of the situation it's an orange and green double wire running from the wheel to the block or around the block I noticed that the belt had eaten into it and it ate right through the green wire they would still connected but maybe only 5 or 10% of the wire were still connected everything else had been eaten through can I just cut this wire and put it back together again and everything be okay? I don't know whatever happened to the lady a year ago who had her problem in it she never saw the answers or anybody helping her with that
