BMW 540 Forum : “what are the weaknesses of the 540”

none,that i know of,just keep on a regular mantaince.

I would check out www.carsurvey.org to see what kinds of problems other owners are reporting.  I am looking there right now to see about Chevy Cobalt reviews.

As usual, cooling system (e.g radiator, water pump...etc). Also, the sensor in the passenger seat always triggle the SRS warning lite. Interior and trunk space is much smaller than the previous generation, E34 (I had a 95' 530i). IMHO, handling is not as sharp as E34. Minor things like, plastic headlight cover and bad cupholder design.
