How do you change front shock absorbers on 1966 Ford Thunderbird with Q engine

from what I can remember, is the a top stud protruding vertically above the shock? If so you take a socket & long extension, no turning involved on this one, move it back and forth until you snap off the top stud. Underneath, remove the 2 bolts and the shock will drop out.
