If you are ambitious a offenhauser dual header set up and dual glasspacks with no crosspipe. And take the dual exhaust straight out the back. it will have a sweet sounding cackle out of that straight six. I had a buddy set up a 78 150 ranger with a offenhauser header and intake with a small four barrel holley on it, it would scream.

depends on the sound you want, glasspacks scream at high rpms, chambered mufflers bark

cherry bomb pro. like the flowmaster 40 series, but better. and cheaper

The grief you go thru to put the headers so you can have the dual exhaust with no cross over will really sound nice when you let of the gas and decelerate too. my buddy's old truck also had a cam in it too and in those days would kick most chevy cars with 350's in them. not bad for a four wheel drive

in line 6 will sound like crap no matter what you do to the exaust or motor.it would be a waste of money.

in line 6 was not intented for proformance.have you ever heard a six with headers or cherry bomb.they sound like a lawnmore.i have a friend who did all that stuff to his 6 and took it all off because the sound embarresed him.try to find a site on the net so you can hear it first to make sure you like the sound.the six is a one of the best motors out there but they dont sound good, that why most people dont bother with the exaust.

Well i hate to say it, but in the old dirt track days the straight sixes would only be a second or two behind the v8 class in lap times. I grew up around straight six diesels tractors and the 300 sixes and have a little respect for them. it wont ever be a big block but i have seen them but damn decent power out, that 300 six can stand rpm that would blow most big blocks apart, and i really loved back in the day seeing a Ford straight 6 blow V8 350s with a 4 barrel . who cares what it sounds like. lets see it get er done.

the 300 six will outlast any V8.ive owed many of them.there problably the most reliable gas engines out there.im not doughting there reliability.i put 515 000kms on my last one with no major issues and it was still running well when for the amount of milage that was on it when i sold it.
