For the 1979 the fifth digit in the VIN stated engine, 8=195hp standard and 4=225hp L82. You can also check the stamp pad on the engine block, passenger side front below valve cover, it should be stamped with either ZBA plus the last numbers in your VIN, this would be L82 with manual trans and ZBB for L82 with auto trans.
