My new big blue 71 monte needs a headliner, and was thinking of doing this work myself, but looking for advice before starting this adventure. Never did one, but have done plenty of difficult mechanical projects in the past. Any advice from those who do this or have done them would be appreciated.

Go to YouTube and search. There's dozens of headliner videos. Find one that suits you situation.

they do rip very easy ! take your time & be very careful. they're not that hard to do in those cars.

When I restored my 71 SS I left the interior to the pros, there are about 5 wires that run across the top of the headliner. and then the edges are glued .

Ok this car requires special care to do i had a 70 and it got done bit wasnt pretty pay close attn to tips of fingers back to front document how the bows come out 15 min of careful save 560.00 at who ever!

You can order the headliner at several places, I got mine from Year One I think, the interior shop charged me 65 dollars to install it. If not done right you will be buying two. I don't know your level of skill but there are some things I leave to the experts. That way they screw it up they are responsible.
