You would need to check and see if its getting fuel. If you turn key on (no crank) can you hear fuel pump turn on? If not you can try tapping fuel tank where pump is with a rubber mallet and see if pump starts to work. BUT it could be a number of things, Check engine light on? If so codes need to be diagnosed. Sure it has gas? GM is notorious for inaccurate fuel gauges.

Its getting fuel i can smell fuel when trying to crank it over.. the check engine light has been on for over a yr now my gf said it was on b4 we met. I was told by a few sources that it sounds like the timing chain has gone out cause those cars are known for that the car hasnt had any major repairs since she bought it

Timing chain is a possibility. If its been sending you messages for over a year its time you had it scanned to find out what its telling you. That will probably lead you to the source of the problem.

Did it ever run high temp? Mine ran hot an it to lost power moments before it just shut off.All electrical features continued all function.

Mine didn’t run hot. Engine just locked up. Wouldn’t turn either direction. Presuming it broke a valve but could be something else. I didn’t spend money looking for the problem. Just found a different engine and put it in. Does your engine turn over at all when you try to start it?

My 2007 chevy cobalt cranks but will not start when it was driving some times i would stop at stop sign and it would act like it would want to cut off know yesterday my wife drove to the store park the car bout and hour later i tryed cranking the car it crunk up ran 3 sec and it just died on me and know it cranks but want start i here the starter constantly turning even after releasing the key switch but ni start can any one please help me

If the starter continues to run after releasing the key, you know the starter is fine, but the electrical system leading up to it is not. You need to troubleshoot from ignition switch to the starter including the various solenoids and relays that are involved in that part of the electrical system. If you do not have the time, skills, or tools to do this you need to go to a shop that specializes in auto electrical work.
