I am looking at 2003 Subaru Impreza 2L with 180ks the engines breathes heavy?

Asked by PB629 Jun 01, 2013 at 04:36 AM about the 2003 Subaru Impreza

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been looking at a Subaru Impreza 2003 model with the naturally aspirated 1994cc
engine.  When you remove the filler cap it breathes a little is this normal?  I know some
cars can be worse than others and sometimes means trouble around the corner.

Also wondering wether head gaskets are something to look out for?

Not Active

I'd look at the underside of the hood for an overheat~ yes, this crankcase is supposed to be ventilated thru the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) valve which is a five dollar part~

if there was an overheat would take a step back from this one~
