how do I remove the head light on a 2005 pontiac montana sv6 van

The parking light and the headlight are held in with three thumbscrews located at the top. Remove the parking light first. If the thumbscrew is seized, remove the two thumbscrews up by the radiator support and take everything out as one unit.

My van has a 8 inch rod that hold the right side of the 2 light assembly and one screw that holds the left side. I have remove both but I cannot get the assembly out. I do not have thumb screws.
