Do you want to take the whole rear differential assembly out? Or do you need to change an axle shaft due to a bad outer axle bearing???

If you mean the axle itself without removing the rear end cover then no. If you mean remove axle without removing housing then yes. Remove wheel and brake rotor, remove rear end cover, remove 8mm bolt holding pin in place, remove carrier pin, push bad axle to center of carrier and remove c clip from axle, pull axle from housing.

Turn the side that the bolt was in to the upper front just above the pinion. tap on the side of the pin facing you with a hammer and brass punch until it moves about 1/2 inch spin the bolt side back to you and insert the pin into the hole that should now be showing in the pin. You should now have the leverage needed to pull out the center pin.

You will know if the axle shafts are bad once you pull them out. They will be grooved and scarred up if bad. Did the 8mm bolt come out in one piece? If the long end is still in the large locking slide shaft it is not coming out until you get that loose.
