What causes the engine to lag between 20 - 40 mph?

5.4L engine, with 149,000 miles. The check engine light is on. The code is p1000. The truck gets up to speed over time.

p1000 is nothing. it sets when the codes have been cleared and simply means the obd drive cycle checks have not been completed.

p1000 will not set the light. there are other codes causing the light. you need to find out what they are.
