Navigator settings for seat mirrors and foot brake and accelerator not working properly

I try to set my settings according to the books recommendations but when my lights are set to auto and I try to set my seat position, foot pedals and mirror the set light blinks very briefly and I cannot set my seat and pedal positions.  It only works when I switch my lights to highbeam.  That doesn't make sense to me.  Anyone with any suggestions?
