Where is the oil filter on2012 malibu 2.4L and how do you change it?

I think the 2.4L has a cartridge style oil filter. remove the engine cover and you should see it on the left front of the engine. Use a 32mm socket to remove and purchase a new filter that should come with an O-Ring.
