Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Sometimes it drips, sometimes a steady stream emptying the radiator.  Then I'll re-fill the radiator and it won't leak at all.  Then a few drips again. I'm told it's likely the water pump and that it's very costly to repair and replace.  About $600.  Can't believe it cost that much.  Any suggestions?  Right now I'm driving with gallons of water in case it empties and starts overheating.

Find another mechanic, should run you closer to $400 for parts and labor.
