car won't start - no power

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What happens:
When you turn the key, there is NOTHING. Also no electrical at all. No
dash, no dome, no charging for the cigarette lighter, nothing.
What i have tried:
- Jumping it straight to the battery, nothing still, and no lights either.
- Jumping it from the positive to a ground on the car body, i get sparks but
no response from the car. This tells me that the cables have contact with
the car if i am getting spark from the body ground.
- Tried to charge the battery with charging station. It shows the battery full.
- Took the cables off and cleaned them even though there was NO
corrosion on them.

Any ideas?

Would that cause no lights anywhere? No dash lights or dome lights?

You have to be sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good, no voltage drops. To begin, use a testlight and follow battery voltage. Any system that uses a fuse, check for voltage at fuse circuit. Some fuses go hot with the key on, some are hot all the time. There maybe fusible links on your vehicle at battery junction block, just follow the positive battery cable. You need to remember battery and system grounds are very important.

OK, so i think i have found the issue. I checked fuses. All good. That little fuse holder that flops down is kinda neat.. anywho.. I then started chasing wires from the battery, i ended noticing that the the main wire for the starter was a little lose, so i tightened it up and now she runs again.. Go figure. Gotta love old cars.
