Neither the MAF or IAC will address a misfire. The 6 cylinder engines have a slightly rough idle to begin with but nothing you should really notice from the driver's seat. The physics of a 6 cylinder engine and the design of the camshaft make for an engine that "moves" a little if you're watching it with the hood up. "Nature of the Beast" kind of thing. You can mist the plug wires and boots with soapy water and then watch and listen for a misfire. Why did you change the MAF and IAC?

Did you disconnect the battery when you changed the sensors? If so, you have to follow the 20 minute 'training' routine to teach the computer how to run the engine properly.

Michael the wires on the mass airflow sensor got cut by fan! Wired them back up changed the mass airflow sensor and now truck is overloading bad won't hardly idle at all?? The wires are wired correctly. What could be wrong? This is a 2009 ford ranger 2.3 anyone's help much appreciated this is O Riley auto parts vehicle a customer of ours?????

I have same issues. Resistance of wires changes the voltage drop for +12V and 5V Ref voltage. My mistake was letting Instantaneous gratification get the best of me when I did not think twice and cut once. As I found the 03 to 04 MAF conversion connector on eBay two days after splicing 6 of the same color wires where I could reuse my k&n 77 intake w/aftermarket MAF sensor that aligned with my EEPROM flash. Now I have problems never seen before because heat has increased resistance over 6 months along with different connector metal (w/Diff resistivity constant). I don’t even know if tinning the wires with solder and shrink wrapping will fix The problem. But it’s that or trace the entire harness back and essentially do the same. Right now dash command says my intake temp is -40 deg F under the hood, and it’s 40 deg outside. Best advice is to find a parts store with a OEM motorcraft or Goodman connector with pig tails and find a general method to splice that has the least effect on voltage drop (greater resistance = greater drop, an open = Infinite resistance or digital multimeter “OL”.) This is what I’m doing and shouldn’t have touched the wires before looking to see if the connector conversion wire existed, which it did. In your case Zip tie that harness so it can’t get near the fan. Good luck if you fixed it please advise
