Hey everyone will a motor from a 90's neon work in a 02 neon without changing anything

The 2.0 L A588 I4 (gasoline) engine from 94-99 is the same engine in the 2.0 2002 neon the only difference you may find would be sensors you would have to switch the sensors from the 2002 to the earlier engine if they are different. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_Neon compare the first gen neon 94-99 To the second gen 99-05 see specs for both engine and transmission. at the link provided. I've took a motor and transmission out of 02 neon and put it n a 01 it would crank but won't shift gear and now it want even crank what should I do?
