My 1993 gmc sierra 4x4 4.3L v6 won't stop whining and I don't know what I can do to fix that

My truck has been doing a whining sound
for quite a while now and everyone was
telling me that my p/s pump was getting
ready to quit so I bought a new one and
replaced it and it's still doing the same
whining noise as before as though I didn't
do a single thing to it. What else could
cause that noise?

Cant, remember if your model has steering box or rack and pinion,but if you have changed the pump,and line,s are good,check the one above you have,sound,s like the problem,good luck with it.

It has a steering box. Take the belt off and start it up. Is the noise still there? Don't do this more than a few minutes as your water pump won't be turning
