Battery discharge and brake light

Hi I have a Mitsubishi Shogun and if I depress the brake pedal without the key in the ignition the rear brake lights in the bumper section illuminate.  The battery also runs flat after a couple of days whether the car is used or not.  The headlight fuse failed when the car was connected up to a trailer recently and the fuse has been replaced - any suggestions as to why the lights should come on and the battery to drain?
