I have a 4speed 1968 chevy c10 straight 6 pickup and when i put in reverse it makes a very loud popping sound....need new transmission? Or can problem be fixed?

Check your drive line. You may need new bearings or have worn parts in the drive line. Try to find where the sound is coming from. DO NOT get under the truck and have someone put it in reverse. A guy did this last year and made the top 10 Darwin awards.
