Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Turn the key and no lights on the dash, battery has a full charge and I can
crank the engine running a wire with a clip from the starter to the battery but it
won't fire.  I get nothing when I turn the key no sound or lights but my theft
light is blinking.  I have headlights and everything else inside the vehicle but
none of my icons on the dash light up.  Was just fine a couple of days ago.

Found fuse under the hood was blown and also ignition relay was loose. Check these first if you encounter the same problem. Pretty easy and cheap fix.

30 amp block fuse under the hood controls the cluster on the dash and the starter.

If your Windstar Van suddenly refuses to crank over and/or cranks but no start, with no warning or previous problems, 90% of the time it's the ignition switch. If replacing same, the better switch can be purchased at NAPA Auto Parts. Been through this numerous times. Good luck - - C D
