car back fires and wont start

On an old car, this would be a sign that the timing is off- with your GM engine management computer, an electronic diagnosis is necessary- take it to a good mechanic- you will want him/her to fix it anyway- if you want to do your own wrenching to save money, buy one of the pre '85 "golden oldies" no rust- you'll be glad you did!
