I have a 2004 Cadillac with only 48,000 and runs great but the engine light stays on .....how do i get to reset it?

Take the car to Autozone or a similar autoparts store. Ask them to read the code and see if they will reset it. This is usually a free service. You DO need to investigate the cause of the engine light and fix the problem.
