87 GN running ruff and rich

Ran my GN at the track went through the lights,let off to hit the return lane and there was no throtle response from idol to about three quarters throtle.Limped it home and started checking it over.Thought it was the MAF so I changed to a LT1 with a translator and it ran better but idols ruff and rich with water blowing out the exhaut.No taste to the water.Any ideas?Thanks

did you get any OBD trouble codes you could put a paw on? suspect the EGR valve, always suspect the EGR valve but an out of California car may not have one--
