no start

This is a followup to my problem. I felt there was an over fueling problem. I took the fuel pressure regulator out of line, ran a clear hose from outlet fitting to a fuel can. Removed spark plugs and cranked engine to blow out excess fuel from cylinders re-enstalled plugs/wires and cranked engine. Wala the engine fired and ran but would not continue to run and no throttle response. I did observe lots of air bubbles in discharge line. I enstalled a clear line at the pump side of fuel distributor, no air bubbles. I might need to seal off the line from the regulator to the back side of the fuel distributor, might be sucking air. Or is it possible there is a bad seal internally in the fuel distributor? I am trying to check the fuel pressure regulator. Should fuel flow freely through the regulator until more fuel is need, which cause more vacume, which in turn cause the regulator to close thus increasing fuel pressure? Has anyone came across this situation?
