Tim is incorrect - it is a known fact that the Cobra Jet was introduced midyear. About 660 GT fastbacks were built with this engine. I don't know how many coupes or convertibles were built.

Not sure but I own a numbers matching 1968 torino gt with the 428 in it. Built at the Ford factory in GA.

660 fastback GT's. No Formal roofs. They all had automatic transmission except for 1 convertible built for a Ford executive that had a 4 speed.

Thunderontheroad429 is incorrect. 660 Torino GT fastbacks, all automatic, plus supposedly 1 4-speed 14 Torino GT convertibles I don't know how many Torino GT hardtops ("formal roof"), but they were built. You can pay Marti Auto Works for the exact info.
