when dlr on the dash shows up whadoes it mean

Normally this light is indicating that routine maintenance is required.  Oil change, Air filter replaced, etc.  Make an appointment and take it in.  If for nothing else than to have the annoying light turned off for you.

It means that your Daytime Running Lights (DLR) are not on.  Usually this means that your car is running, but that the parking brake was set when it was started.  Release the parking brake, and the DLR lights go on, the indicator goes off and you are ready to drive.

Either that or it means your CD player has detected that you're listening to a David Lee Roth CD....  ;^)
