Ive got a 1995 Pontiac Trans-am LT-1 car that was perfectly fine yesterday then when we started it up this morning in the driveway it skyrocketed in temp and overheated even though it was 45 degrees?

pulled the thermostat out nothing changes, secondary fan is running, still climbs and
overheats, added coolant to her and it seems to be going somewhere but no water in
the oil at all and the coolant resivior is holding fine but the radiator seems to not be and
there is no water underneath? Car doesnt miss or idle funny? Just drove it 3000 miles
last month from florida to the mountains in california and she ran fine the whole time.
Im completely at a loss....

sorry if this is "obvious" but, pressure check (or just replace for ~$5) the radiator cap.

actually, you should pressure check the whole system to see if there is a leak somewhere. i think some auto parts places have the pressure checkers you can borrow.

I have a 99 pontiac grand am se 3.4L V6. The issue is that it starts and idles fine but as soon as I go to accelerate it just shuts off. It did have overheating issues but right after I fixed those it started doing this. I replaced the cam position sensor and also the engine coolant temp sensor and it didnt help. I was thinking of replacing the ignition coil packs and housi g but not sure if that would fix it. There are no check engine lights or stored codes . 4 Answers

I have a 1990 firebird with the 3.1l and I have been realized that when I start it to warm up, it sucks more gas then it does when I am driving it and I want to know why it does that. My other question is, one day. I was on my way back and I was at a stop sign and their was a car coming, so I put my foot to the floor to and it just died on me, it started right up and drove ever since that. 7 Answers
