As the crème-de-la-crème of Volkswagen’s reworked Passat lineup, the 2012 Passat TDI SEL Premium pretty much has it all. A brand-new, direct-injected 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) turbodiesel engine powers the Passat TDI SEL Premium for 2012. Managed by the standard 6-speed auto-manual transmission with selectable sport mode, this four-banger lays down 236 lb-ft of torque and is estimated at 30 mpg city/40 highway, very respectable numbers for its class.
