Great Car But Too Small — i would put power seats in it in this car. interior look awesome with the black leather with red stitching. Fender radio sounds amazing. The 2.0 turbo gets up and goes great, it will pull you back in your seat.

Pros

Overall bang for the buck. Great interior.

Cons

Nothing sucks, though exterior looks are a little derivative.

Geat Bang For The Buck In A Sporty Sedan — Only recently bought this one as a daily driver. Love it so far, especially the DSG transmission with its Sport and/or manual/SW paddle modes. Engine HP & torque seems to be underrated, as it is quicker than the numbers would suggest.

Pros

Comfortable, supportive seats that hold you in place.  Peppy engine with slick shifting 6 speed.  Large trunk and plenty of legroom in the back seat.  For the price, you really get a great sporty European sedan.

Cons

Fuel economy could be better, but perhaps it is because I can't stop pushing it to the limits because of the sweet sound and how fun it is.

European Sport Sedan On A Budget — I looked at a lot of cars when I was making this selection. I originally test drove a GTI Autobahn but it is a work car and I didn't feel the hatchback space was enough for the times I need to haul people and their luggage around. It was hard to find a GLI but when I finally saw this Frost Silver Metallic GLI in person and then drove it, I knew I was hooked. The first time I drove it it felt like I had owned it for years. It was just so natural rowing through the six speed manual transmission. The car has very modest styling with just a few tweaks from a typical Jetta like the back side skirts and front skid plate. The biggest impact is made by the 18" Autobahn edition black edged spoked wheels. They really make the car stand out as sporty. The steering wheel is the same as found in the GTI and is a chunky piece that feels great in your hands and excels in responsiveness. I have been hearing a bid a excess wind noise which seems to be coming from a seal around one of the passenger side windows and the seat belt chime and light have come on a few times when there was no one in the passenger seat. I'll have those items checked when I have it in for service. I've been getting about 28-30 MPG which is pretty much the same as I was getting in my A4 Quattro. I expected better with the GLI. Maybe it just isn't broken in enough yet. If you like it cold, then this A/C system is for you! It cools the car down in what seems like seconds and it is downright COLD. I live off of a twisty road that averages 40-45 MPH for a speed limit. I've found it is a great test of a vehicles' handling by pushing it along this road. The GLI does not disappoint. It grips the road extremely well and you can really feel the car in your hands and under your feet. The brakes are strong and responsive too and allow you to fly in and out of corners with a good head of steam. The squat greenhouse and large backseats with headrests don't offer the best rear visibility. Also the side mirrors are small and a bit odd shaped. I have been setting my side mirrors to allow for no blindspots by pushing them out really wide (based on a tip from a car magazine) and I find that these mirrors can't go out or show the same field of vision as other cars I've had. I'm looking forward to the next 2 1/2 years with this vehicle.

Pros

Classically a Jetta but newer, bigger, and faster! This car is a joy to drive.

Cons

Dare I say, I paid too much?

I Love My 2012 Jetta Gli! — I went to the dealer to find a new Jetta that would primarily be my commuter. I wanted a new version of my 2004 Jetta, which has served me well for 7 years. When I test drove the GLI, I fell in love. Faster and "cooler" trim than I was looking for, but it is a nice, calm ride for a high-performance sports car. I love the purr of the engine, and the tiptronic is nice for the days I miss having a 5-speed. It's only been a week, and I grow more fond of this car each and every day.
