Toyota’s upper-midlevel 2012 Sienna XLE lineup is further enhanced by the front-wheel-drive-only Mobility 7-Passenger trim with its standard JBL premium sound system. Additionally, this 3-row minivan sports 150 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seats folded and gets its go from a variable-valve-timed (VVT) 266-hp 3.5-liter V6 engine. The six-banger mates with a 6-speed shiftable automatic transmission to put out 245 lb-ft of torque, good enough to tow some 3,500 pounds of trailer when properly equipped. Fuel efficiency, meantime, is estimated at 18 mpg city/25 highway.
Besides the premium audio, the Sienna XLE Mobility 7-Passenger boasts such standard appearance features as 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, roof rack, power sunroof and a rear power liftgate. Cabin-wise, look for leather upholstery, heated front captain’s chairs, reclining second-row lounge seats with folding footrests, cruise control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering. Options for this high-end minivan include a few packages that boast cargo management equipment, door-sill protectors, roof rails and carpeted floor mats, along with towing equipment and added engine cooling, remote engine start, rear-seat DVD entertainment, rear parking sensors and a touch-screen navigation system that also supports Entune smartphone apps.
For 2012, the Sienna XLE Mobility 7-Passenger is equipped with Toyota’s Star Safety System featuring 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), as well as traction and stability control. Occupant safety, meantime, is boosted by front side-mounted airbags, a driver’s knee airbag, three-row head airbags and front head-restraint whiplash protection. Finally, front fog/driving lights, daytime running lights and a remote antitheft alarm also come standard, with a blind-spot monitoring system and Toyota’s Safety Connect emergency communications and alert optional.
