Overview of 2012 Toyota Sienna LE 7-Passenger By Eric Tallberg
Though its title sounds rather insipid, Toyota’s 2012 Sienna LE 7-Passenger minivan is distinguished by a variable-valve-timed (VVT) V6 powerplant and standard all-wheel drive (AWD). The 266-hp 3.5-liter V6 combines with a 6-speed shiftable automatic for 245 lb-ft of torque, good enough to tow 3,500 pounds of trailer with the proper equipment. Mileage, meanwhile, is estimated at 17 mpg city/23 highway. The AWD system is anchored by a center limited-slip differential and provides full-time power to all wheels.
Three rows of seating and 150 cubic feet of cargo area are this lower mid-level mini’s stock in trade, but that’s not all it has to offer. Expect 18-inch alloy wheels, a roof rack and a rear spoiler to grace the Sienna LE 7-Passenger’s exterior, while premium cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and front and second-row reclining captain’s chairs adorn the interior. Full power accessories, including heated outside mirrors, are complemented by cruise control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering, with dual-zone air conditioning, an MP3-capable single-CD player, 6 speakers, satellite radio and a USB port rounding out the notable cabin goodies aboard. Finally, Bluetooth technology handles hands-free communications.
Should a bit more be desired of this classy minivan, there are a number of packages available that include carpeted floor mats, roof rails, cargo organizers and door-sill protectors. Remote engine start is a standalone option, as are BLU Logic audio-interrupt hands-free communications, rear-seat DVD entertainment, towing equipment and a navigation suite with display screen and Entune smartphone apps and services.
Finally, Toyota’s Star Safety System means that safety is not neglected aboard the 2012 Sienna LE 7-Passenger. Traction and stability control, as well as 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), all come standard. Inside, look for front side-mounted airbags, three-row head airbags and a driver’s-side knee airbag. Finally, daytime running lights are also a standard safety feature.
This overview covers the LE 7-Passenger trim only.
