2012 Toyota Prius Five Trim Overview

As the top-of-the-line Prius available for 2012, the Prius Five comes well-equipped with a wide range of standard features. It also displays an number of exterior updates for 2012, including a redesigned front fascia, bumper, headlights and LED taillights. Standard exterior features for the Prius Five include LED headlights with auto-off and headlight cleaners, foglights, power mirrors, a rear spoiler and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the 6.1-inch new audio touchscreen integrates the vehicle's many tech and entertainment features, including navigation, HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio and backup camera, as well as an AM/FM/CD audio system with 8 JBL speakers and a JBL amplifier, all designed to draw less electricity. Other standard features found in the Prius Five's roomy cabin include SofTex upholstery, heated front seats with seatback pockets, 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, automatic climate control, multifunction tilt/telescopic steering wheel, and power windows and door locks. In addition, the backseat splits 60/40 to expand the Prius's 21.6 cubic feet of storage space.

A Hybrid Synergy Drive provides power for the Prius Five. It consists of a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor, which combined produce 134 hp and 153 lb-ft of torque. The powerplant, which connects to an electronic continuously variable transmission (CVT), posts fuel economy numbers of 51/48 mpg. Standard safety features include 7 airbags and Toyota's Star Safety System, which incorporates enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. Hill Start Assist, another standard feature, aids the driver when starting from a full stop on a hill. Optional features for the Prius Five include an Advanced Technology Package, which adds an HDD navigation system, a heads-up display, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, a pre-collision system and a Lane Keep Assist system.
