2012 Toyota Corolla S Trim Overview

The sport-oriented Toyota Corolla S gains a new standard AM/FM/CD audio system for 2012. The 6-speaker system features a redesigned head unit, USB port, auxiliary input jack, Bluetooth capability, music streaming and auto sound leveling. In addition, the S's sport fabric-trimmed front seats now display a double-stitch accent, and the automaker adds audio controls to the S's tilt/telescopic sport steering wheel. Other standard features that set the S trim apart from the entry-level L include metallic interior trim and cruise control. In addition, the S features unique sport instrumentation, as opposed to the L's analog instrumentation. Air conditioning with an air filter, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, keyless remote and power windows and door locks also come with the S's standard package.

Outside, the S trim displays a sporty look, thanks a number of enhancements designed to improve aerodynamics and separate the S from the rest of the Corolla lineup. Those enhancements include front and rear underbody spoilers, side rocker panels and a rear spoiler. Integrated foglights, heated exterior power mirrors, multi-reflector halogen headlamps with black sport trim and a chrome-tipped exhaust pipe are among the S trim's other exterior features. Power comes from a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine developing 132 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. It links to either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed electronically controlled automatic with intelligence. Electric power steering and power brakes come standard on the front-wheel-drive S trim. For safety, the S comes equipped with 6 airbags, as well as vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, all part of the automaker's Star Safety System. The Corolla S rides on 15-inch five-spoke alloy wheels.
