In keeping with its status as the top-of-the-line Versa Hatchback, the Nissan Versa 1.8 SL Hatchback receives a number of new standard features for 2012, which were previously included in the optional Premium Package. Nissan's Intelligent Key entry and ignition system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, Bluetooth, cruise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a cargo area cover and wood-tone trim accents all now come standard on the 1.8 SL Hatchback. Other standard features include air conditioning, a 6-way manually adjustable driver's seat (4-way adjustment for the passenger's seat), a tilt steering column, woven cloth upholstery, power windows and door locks, and a 6-speaker AM/FM/CD premium audio system with MP3 capability, an iPod interface, speed-sensitive volume and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. Owners can add such optional features as SiriusXM satellite radio and a navigation system with a 5-inch color touchscreen display.
A 1.8-liter engine powers the front-wheel-drive 1.8 SL Hatchback. The engine produces 122 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque, and links to an Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). Fuel economy numbers check in at 28/34 mpg. Six airbags come standard, along with Vehicle Dynamic Control, traction control and a tire pressure monitoring system. Outside, standard features include foglights, sport front and rear fascias, lower body side sill extensions, a rear spoiler, chrome grille accents and power side mirrors. The 1.8 SL Hatchback rides on 6-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with all-season tires.
