Overview of 2012 Nissan Murano SV By Eric Tallberg

Standing a notch above the entry-level S trim in the 2012 Nissan Murano pecking order is the lower-midlevel Murano SV. Boasting 64 cubic feet of total cargo space, this 5-passenger midsize crossover flaunts 18-inch alloy wheels, a roof rack, a power sunroof, a fixed glass rear sunroof and a rear spoiler outside, with leather and alloy cabin accents, cloth upholstery and dual-zone climate control adorning the inside. Additional standard comfort and convenience features include full power accessories, power-adjustable front seats, a reclining rear seat, a rear-view camera, cruise control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering. Finally, Bluetooth hands-free communications are complemented by an MP3-capable single-CD changer with 6 speakers, satellite radio and a USB port.

Options, meantime, include roof rail crossbars, splash guards, a Class I or II trailer hitch and wiring, and illuminated door sills.

The ubiquitous 3.5-liter variable-valve-timed (VVT) V6 engine is standard aboard the 2012 Murano SV, and mates with a glitch-free continuously variable transmission (CVT) for 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. Expect a properly equipped maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, with mileage running 18 mpg city/24 highway in this front-wheel-drive-only (FWD) midsize crossover.

Finally, standard safety features include 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), traction and stability control, front and rear head airbags, front head restraint whiplash protection and front side-mounted airbags. Front fog/driving lights and a remote antitheft alarm also come standard aboard the Murano SV, while LED daytime running lights are optional.

This overview covers the SV trim only.
