Overview of 2012 Nissan Murano SV AWD By Eric Tallberg
Though listed as the lower-midlevel trim of the 2012 Nissan Murano lineup, the SV AWD packs not only traction-boosting all-wheel drive (AWD), but a number of added standard goodies over its more plebian S AWD sibling.
Outside, look for 18-inch alloy wheels, a roof rack, a rear spoiler and a front power sunroof, with a fixed glass sunroof adorning the rear. Inside, expect cloth upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, reclining rear seats and full power accessories, all complemented by leather and alloy cabin accents and dual-zone climate control.
A rear-view camera, cruise control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering are among the more notable convenience features aboard, with an MP3-capable single-CD player and 6 speakers, satellite radio and a USB port pumping out the tunes. Finally, Bluetooth hands-free communications technology is also standard in this classy crossover.
Alas, options are limited to, among other minor items, a trailer hitch and wiring (Class I or II), splash guards, LED daytime running lights, roof rail crossbars and illuminated door sills.
Powering the 2012 Murano SV AWD is a 260-hp 3.5-liter V6, with variable valve timing (VVT) and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) contributing to 240 lb-ft of torque, and 18 mpg city/23 highway. Towing is maxed out at 3,500 pounds with the proper equipment, while the Intuitive AWD system allows normal front-wheel-drive cruising, with automatic torque redirection to all 4 wheels when cornering and in poor traction conditions.
Safety-wise, the 2012 Murano SV AWD sports standard 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), traction and stability control, front and rear head airbags, front head restraint whiplash protection and front side-mounted airbags. Additional standard safety and security equipment includes front fog/driving lights and a remote antitheft alarm. LED daytime running lights, meantime, are optional.
This overview covers the SV AWD trim only.
