Overview of 2012 Nissan Murano SL By Eric Tallberg
Flaunting its upper-midlevel trim status, the 2012 Nissan Murano SL boasts a power rear liftgate, rear spoiler, a power sunroof forward and fixed glass sunroof aft, a roof rack and 18-inch alloy wheels to go along with 64 cubic feet of cargo area. This 5-passenger midsize crossover also sports full power accessories, including heated power-adjustable outside mirrors, as well as leather upholstery, heated front power-adjustable seats, reclining rear seats, memory for driver's settings, a heated chrome and leather steering wheel and dual-zone climate control.
Additional standard goodies include a universal remote garage door opener, rear-view camera, cruise control and telescoping tilt-wheel steering, with Bluetooth technology boosting hands-free communications, and an MP3-capable single-CD player boasting 11 Bose premium speakers, satellite radio and a USB connection.
Options for this high-end crossover ute include the Navigation Package with voice-activated hard-drive-based navigation, 7-inch color display, real time traffic and weather, and Bluetooth streaming audio. Rear-seat DVD entertainment, LED daytime running lights, a Class I or II trailer hitch and wiring, splash guards and roof rail cross bars are also optional.
Powering the 2012 Murano SL is the traditional variable-valve-timed 3.5-liter V6 engine that mates with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for 260 hp and 240 lb-ft of torque. Towing is maxed out at 3,500 pounds with the proper equipment, while mileage is estimated at 18 mpg city/24 highway for this front-wheel-drive (FWD) trim.
Noteworthy standard safety features aboard this family-friendly crossover include 4-wheel antilock braking (ABS), traction and stability control, front and rear head airbags, front head restraint whiplash protection and front side-mounted airbags. Additional safety and security equipment includes standard front fog/driving lights and a remote antitheft alarm, as well as available LED daytime running lights.
This overview covers the SL trim only.
