Overview of 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C63 AMG By R. Feeman

With unique styling and mechanical enhancements courtesy of AMG, Mercedes' in-house tuner, the 2012 C63 AMG sedan continues to deliver optimal sport handling and performance. The C63's long list of impressive features starts with its handbuilt 6.3-liter V8 engine, which puts out 451 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque. The C63 clocks a 0-60 time of just 4.4 seconds. Mercedes pairs the V8 with a 7-speed AMG SpeedShift MCT transmission with four driving modes, including Controlled Efficiency, Sport, Sport Plus and a Manual shift mode. Aluminum paddle shifters located on the steering wheel give the driver fingertip control. The big V8 requires premium fuel and manages fuel economy numbers of 12/19 mpg. Mercedes equips the C63 AMG with an AMG high-performance braking system and an AMG sports exhaust system. In addition, the C63 rides on an AMG-designed sports suspension featuring AMG shock absorbers and stabilizers, a redesigned front axle and a reinforced rear axle. Electronic stability control, traction control and antilock brakes with brake assist all come standard.

Outside, the C63 features AMG body styling, which includes a front apron, functional mesh air intakes, dark-tinted headlights, a power-dome hood and LED daytime running lights. Sculpted side sills, a wraparound rear apron, a rear spoiler, oval exhaust tips and 18-inch AMG wheels are among the other exterior features. Inside, standard features include heated 8-way power-adjustable AMG sport front seats with deep side bolsters, a 3-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, AMG gauges and rubber-studded aluminum sport pedals. Black Ash wood trim, dual-zone climate control and a 450-watt Harman Kardon Logic7 sound system with SiriusXM satellite radio are also included.

This overview covers the C63 AMG trim only.
