Overview of 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C350 Coupe By R. Feeman
Making its debut for 2012, the Mercedes-Benz C350 Coupe joins the lineup as one of two new C-Class coupe trims. Outside, the C350 Coupe receives a number of updates given to all 2012 C-Class trims, including restyled bumpers, headlights, taillights and a new aluminum hood. It also features sport body styling, which includes a front apron with mesh air intakes, sculpted side sills and a rear skirt. A panorama roof, LED daytime running lights and 17-inch wheels are among the other exterior features. Inside, new C-Class features include a redesigned dashboard, a new center console and restyled air vents and controls. The C350 Coupe's sport cabin styling also includes sport front seats, a three-spoke steering wheel, aluminum trim and rubber-studded aluminum sport pedals. Other standard features include Burl Walnut wood trim, heated front seats, a 14-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth, HD radio, a SmartKey remote controller and auto-dimming interior and driver's-side mirrors. Mercedes also includes a 5.8-inch color LCD display for the audio system and other interior functions, which drivers can access through steering-wheel-mounted controls.
Power comes from a new-generation 3.5-liter V6 engine, which produces 302 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. The engine links to a 7-speed automatic transmission with the Touch Shift manual-shift feature and paddle shifters, and drives the C350 Sport from 0-60 in 5.9 seconds. The EPA estimates fuel economy numbers of 20/29 mpg, thanks in part to a new ECO start/stop feature, which automatically shuts off the engine at stop lights or when idling to conserve fuel. The C350 Sport rides on a lowered sport-tuned suspension and comes standard with electronic stability control system, antilock brakes, brake assist, rain-sensing windshield wipers and 9 airbags. Mercedes also includes a new Attention Assist feature, which alerts drivers if they're becoming drowsy.
This overview covers the C350 Coupe trim only.
