Overview of 2012 Mazda MAZDA3 i Sport By R. Feeman
The 2012 Mazda MAZDA3 i Sport compact car includes a number of standard features not found on the entry-level i SV trim, including air conditioning, power door locks, remote keyless entry and an ambient temperature display. Other standard features include power windows, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel and cloth seats with 6-way manual adjustment for the driver and 4-way adjustment for the front passenger. A 60/40-split fold-down rear seatback also comes standard. In addition, the i Sport's four-speaker AM/FM/CD audio system includes an audio input jack and steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. Six airbags, including front advanced airbags, front side-impact airbags and side-curtain airbags, are among the standard safety features.
Outside, the MAZDA3 i Sport displays a freshened exterior design, with new front and rear bumpers, a redesigned front grille and updated front headlights. A 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, producing 148 hp and 135 lb-ft of torque, provides power for the i Sport. The engine links to either a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive or a 5-speed electronically controlled Sport automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Logic and a manual-shift mode. The powerplant posts fuel economy numbers of 25/33 mpg with either transmission. Dynamic Stability Control, traction control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution all come standard. The i Sport rides on new 16-inch steel wheels with full wheel covers.
This overview covers the i Sport trim only.
