2012 Hyundai Accent Trims and Specs

The Hyundai Accent GLS 4-door subcompact sedan gets a full redesign for 2012, which includes updated exterior styling, a new fuel-efficient 4-cylinder engine, an upgraded interior and cutting-edge safety features. For power, the Accent GLS now comes equipped with an all-aluminum, 1.6-liter Gamma 4-cylinder engine, which generates a best-in-class 138 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque. The engine links to a 6-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic, which enables drivers to change gears manually. Fuel economy numbers check in at 30/40 mpg. A Vehicle Stability Management System, electronic stability control, traction control and 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, as well as 6 airbags, all come standard.

Outside, the Accent GLS now displays Hyundai's "Fluidic Sculpture" exterior design theme, highlighted by sweeping lines from the grille and hood back toward the tail. Standard exterior features for the GLS include a hexagonal front grille with chrome accents, swept-back headlights, heated power side mirrors, horizontal taillights and 14-inch steel wheels. Standard interior features for the Accent depend on the transmission selected. When equipped with the manual transmission, the GLS comes with a stripped-down list of standard features that includes power door locks, a tilt steering wheel, a 6-way adjustable driver's seat, a 60/40-split rear seat, remote keyless entry and 4 speakers. However, the manual-equipped GLS does not include an AM/FM radio, power windows, air conditioning, a radio or cruise control. Hyundai offers an optional package for the manual GLS that includes those features, or owners can add the automatic transmission, in which case all the additional features are included in the standard equipment list. A Premium Package for the GLS also adds such features as Bluetooth, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, premium cloth seats and steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls.

Under the hood, Hyundai has dropped at new 1.6-liter Gamma 4-cylinder engine, which produces a best-in-class 138 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque. The engine links to either a 6-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic, which enables drivers to change gears manually. The powerplant posts fuel economy numbers of 30/40 mpg.

Inside the SE hatchback's updated cabin, such features as Bluetooth, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, premium cloth seats and steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls come standard. Air conditioning, power windows and door locks, remote keyless entry, a 6-way adjustable driver's seat, a 60/40-split rear seatback and a 6-speaker, 172-watt AM/FM audio system with iPod and auxiliary input jacks are also included in the standard package. Hyundai also offers a power sunroof as an option. In addition, sport-tuned steering provides more responsive handling than the other Accent trims.
