Overview of 2012 Honda Civic Si w/ Summer Tires By R. Feeman
Setting itself apart from the other Si trims available this year, the 2012 Honda Civic Si with Summer Tires rides on special 17-inch Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 Performance Tires, designed for optimal street performance, thanks to their dry grip, low tread noise and precise control in both wet and dry conditions, according to the manufacturer. The tires come as standard equipment on the Si with Summer Tires, which also receives a new powerplant and a new manual transmission for 2012. The sport-oriented Si's new 2.4-liter, inline 4-cylinder engine delivers 201 hp and 170 lb-ft of torque, and links to a new 6-speed manual transmission, which helps to improve fuel efficiency. The engine posts fuel economy numbers of 22/31 mpg, up slightly from the previous year's numbers of 21/29 mpg. A limited-slip differential and beefed-up stabilizer bars also come standard on the front-wheel-drive Si.
The Si comes well-equipped with a wide range of standard features, including a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio, cruise and Bluetooth controls, plus a power moonroof, keyless entry, air conditioning, power windows and door locks, and a 7-speaker, 360-watt audio system with an MP3/CD player and speed-sensitive volume. Honda's new intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), which handles audio, Bluetooth and general vehicle information, also comes standard. Outside, such features as fog lights, folding power mirrors and auto-off headlights are all part of the standard package. Safety features include 6 airbags, as well as vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist.
This overview covers the Si w/ Summer Tires trim only.
