Overview of 2012 Honda Civic DX By R. Feeman
The entry-level 2012 Honda Civic DX compact sedan comes equipped with such standard features as power windows, a tilt/telescopic steering column, a center console with storage, and fabric seats with height adjustment for the driver and a fold-down rear seatback. In addition, front and back beverage holders and door pocket storage comes standard. Safety features include front and rear side-curtain airbags and front-side airbags, as well as dual-stage front airbags. Vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist are all included with the standard package. Outside, standard equipment includes folding power mirrors and auto-off headlights.
A 1.8-liter i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine drives the Civic DX. The engine generates 140 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque and features multi-point fuel injection, a Direct Ignition system and a Drive-by-Wire throttle system, which enhance performance, fuel economy and responsiveness. The engine links to either a 5-speed manual transmission, which comes standard, or an optional 5-speed automatic. Tweaks to the engine this year have boosted fuel economy numbers to 28/39 mpg when the engine is mated to the automatic transmission, and 28/36 when linked to the manual transmission. The engine runs on regular unleaded fuel. The front-wheel-drive DX rides on 15-inch wheels with all-season tires.
This overview covers the DX trim only.
