The well-equipped Honda CR-V EX-L with DVD and AWD, which received a full redesign for 2012, delivers a full range of technology, luxury-oriented and safety features. Topping the list is a factory-installed DVD rear entertainment system, which includes a 7-inch flip-down LCD screen for rear-seat passengers. The system's audio can play through either the vehicle's 7-speaker audio system or through wireless headphones. Other upscale features on the EX-L include leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat and dual-zone automatic climate control. Drivers can control many of the vehicle's tech systems, including the 328-watt audio system with XM satellite radio, through a new 5-inch LCD intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), which also handles Bluetooth and general vehicle information. The i-MID system also includes Pandora music streaming and a new voice-oriented text messaging function. Other standard features for the EX-L include a power moonroof, remote keyless entry, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, cruise control and power windows and door locks, as well as a new Easy Fold-Down 60/40 split rear seat, which automatically folds nearly flat at the flick of a lever. Outside, heated power side mirrors and auto-off headlights are among the standard features.
To help improve stability and sure-footedness, the CR-V EX-L with DVD and AWD comes equipped with Honda's new electronically controlled Real Time AWD system with intelligence, which provides smoother overall operation than the mechanically activated all-wheel-drive system it replaces. The AWD system channels power from a 2.4-liter, i-VTEC DOHC 4-cylinder engine, which links to a 5-speed automatic transmission. The powerplant generates 185 hp and 164 lb-ft of torque, and posts fuel economy numbers of 22/30 mpg. A Hill Start Assist system, also new for 2012, helps prevent rollback when starting the vehicle on an incline. Standard safety features include 6 airbags, as well as stability control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. The CR-V EX-L with DVD and AWD rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires.
