2012 Honda CR-V EX-L AWD Trim Overview

Thanks to a full redesign for 2012, the Honda CR-V EX-L AWD offers both comfort and competence, thanks in part to its new electronically controlled Real Time AWD system with intelligence, which replaces the previous year's mechanically activated all-wheel-drive system. According to reviewers, the new AWD system provides smoother overall operation than the previous setup. Honda also includes a new Hill Start Assist system, which prevents rollback when starting the vehicle on an incline. Power for the EX-L with AWD comes from a 2.4-liter, i-VTEC DOHC 4-cylinder engine, which links to a 5-speed automatic transmission and produces 185 hp and 164 lb-ft of torque. The engine posts fuel economy numbers of 22/30 mpg, an increase of 1 mpg city and 3 mpg highway over the previous year.

The 2012 CR-V EX-L AWD offers an extensive package of standard equipment, including such upscale features as leather upholstery, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat and dual-zone automatic climate control, all of which set the EX-L apart from the lower-end CR-V trims. The EX-L with AWD also comes equipped with a 328-watt, 7-speaker AM/FM audio system with XM satellite radio, as well as such standard features as a power moonroof, an illuminated vanity mirror, remote keyless entry, a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, cruise control and power windows and door locks. A 5-inch LCD intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), new for 2012, handles audio, Bluetooth and general vehicle information, as well as Pandora music streaming and a new voice-oriented text messaging function. Another new feature for 2012 is an Easy Fold-Down 60/40 split rear seat, which automatically folds nearly flat at the flick of a lever. Heated power side mirrors and auto-off headlights are among the standard exterior features. Safety features include 6 airbags, as well as stability control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. The EX-L with AWD rides on 17-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires.
