2012 Honda CR-V EX AWD Trim Overview

The mid-level Honda CR-V EX with AWD, which received a full redesign for 2012, comes well-equipped with a number of upscale and high-tech features, as well as the automaker's new electronically controlled Real Time AWD system with intelligence, which replaces the mechanically activated all-wheel-drive system of earlier years. The new AWD system provides smoother overall operation than the previous setup and channels power from a 2.4-liter, i-VTEC DOHC 4-cylinder engine, which links to a 5-speed automatic. The engine generates 185 hp and 164 lb-ft of torque, and posts fuel economy numbers of 22/30 mpg, an increase of 1 mpg city and 3 mpg highway from the previous year.

The CR-V EX's cabin comes equipped with a number of features not found on the entry-level LX trim, including a power moonroof, privacy glass, an illuminated vanity mirror and 17-inch alloy wheels. Other new standard features for 2012 include an Easy Fold-Down 60/40 split rear seat, which automatically folds nearly flat at the flick of a lever, and Hill Start Assist, which prevents the EX from rolling back when starting the vehicle on an incline. In addition, the 2012 CR-V EX receives a new 5-inch LCD intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID), which handles audio, Bluetooth and general vehicle information, as well as Pandora music streaming and a new voice-oriented text messaging function, both new for 2012. Other standard features on the EX include remote keyless entry, power windows and door locks, cruise control, a tilt/telescopic multifunction steering wheel with audio controls and a 4-speaker, 160-watt AM/FM audio system with a CD player and an input jack. Safety features include 6 airbags as well as stability control and antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. Outside, power folding mirrors and auto-off headlights are among the EX's standard features.
