Overview of 2012 Ford Mustang V6 Premium By R. Feeman
The 2012 Ford Mustang V6 Premium 2-door hardtop coupe comes equipped with a number of standard features not found on the entry-level V6 trims, including leather-trimmed front bucket seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ambient lighting and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. The dash in the V6 Premium also upgrades to a 6-gauge instrument cluster with MyColor illumination. Tech features include a 4.2-inch LCD message center and an 8-speaker, 500-watt Shaker audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio. The V6 Premium also includes Ford's SYNC voice-activated communications system and 6-way power adjustment for the driver's seat, as well as air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and door locks, a 50/50-split fold-down rear seat and remote keyless entry. Redesigned sun visors with storage and illuminated vanity mirrors are new for 2012. Optional Recaro leather sport front seats are available, as are heated front seats and a glass roof.
Power for the Mustang V6 Premium comes from a 3.7-liter Duratec V6 engine generating 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. When linked to a 6-speed manual transmission, which comes as standard equipment, the engine manages fuel economy numbers of 19/29 mpg, which increase slightly to a class-leading 19/31 mpg when paired with an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. A selectable Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS), new for 2012, gives drivers the option of choosing from Standard, Sport or Comfort settings. Standard safety features include 4-wheel antilock brakes, traction and stability control, standard dual front side-mounted airbags and a post-collision safety system. Outside, the Mustang V6 Premium displays such features as a power-dome hood, halogen headlights, three-bar LED taillights, power side mirrors with integrated blind spot mirrors, dual exhaust pipes and 17-inch machined aluminum wheels.
This overview covers the V6 Premium trim only.
