Overview of 2012 Ford Fusion SE By R. Feeman
The 2012 Ford Fusion SE sedan receives a couple of new standard features for 2012, including a 6-speed automatic transmission and 17-inch wheels. In its standard configuration, the 6-speed shifter mates with a 2.5-liter Duratec 4-cylinder engine, which generates 175 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. Owners who want a sportier driving experience can upgrade to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, which includes a thumb shifter so the driver can change gears manually. In addition, for more power, Ford also offers the SE with an optional 3.0-liter Duratec V6 engine, which produces 240 hp and 223 lb-ft of torque. The 4-cylinder engine manages fuel economy numbers of 23/32 mpg with the regular automatic and 22/30 when equipped with the optional SelectShift transmission. The optional V6, offered only with the 6-speed SelectShift transmission, posts numbers of 20/28. Standard safety equipment on the Fusion SE includes 6 airbags as well as Ford's AdvanceTrac traction control system with electronic stability control. Antilock disc brakes also come standard.
Inside, the SE offers a well-appointed cabin with a number of other standard features not found on the base S trim, including an 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat, steering-wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, power windows and a 6-speaker AM/FM audio system with XM satellite radio and a CD/MP3 player. Air conditioning, power door locks and cloth bucket seats are among the other standard features. In addition, Ford's MyKey system, which enables parents to moderate younger drivers' habits by setting limits on speed and audio volume, also comes standard. Outside, foglights, dual chrome exhaust tips, power exterior mirrors and quad-beam halogen automatic headlights are among the standard features. An optional Appearance Package adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a sport-tuned suspension, a rear spoiler and larger 18-inch wheels, among other features. Owners can also add Ford's SYNC voice-activated connectivity system as an option.
This overview covers the SE trim only.
